Nature4Climate with Lucy Almond & nature fintech preview

Special guest Lucy Almond, Chair of Nature4Climage joined NTC Now on February 21st, 2024 to share updates regarding N4C’s 2024 strategic plan.

NTC Now is a program launched by the Nature Tech Collective where members drop in to present time, exchange updates, and connect. Each event kicks off with a special guest, followed by a pulse on the nature tech sector and community including member only special announcements, updates and activities.

Special Guest, Lucy Almond

Our guest this week was Lucy Almond who joined NTC Now from the village of Hampshire in the UK (together with Rhubarb =) Lucy is chair of Nature4Climate, a coalition of organizations across the environmental sector all dedicated to helping raise the profile of nature as a solution for a more sustainable, equitable and nature-positive future.

Nature4Climate 2024 Strategic Plan Preview

Lucy shared with NTC members a preview of Nature4Climate’s “hot of the press” 2024 strategic details following an intense planning period in January and February since most of Nature4Climate’s work happens between September and December with New York Climate Week followed by Climate and/or Biodiversity COPs. The full strategy will be shared with their 26 members in the first week of March.

Lucy revealed that their structure has changed a little with three main activities; communications, advocacy and movement building and three thematic priorities; nature positive economy, science, and global south engagement. The first theme, nature positive economy includes nature finance and the corporate and financial investment that needs to happen to take us towards a nature positive and net zero economy. The second theme, which is always present at Nature4Climate is science — everything at N4C is science based — and she highlighted their nature tech platform Nature Base. Nature tech leads to investment confidence and so this is closely linked with the nature positive economy. The third thematic priority is global south engagement and will include highlights and an expanded representation from global south organizations.
