SeaChange with Kat Bruce & nature fintech sector map preview

NTC Now is a program launched by the Nature Tech Collective where members drop in to present time, exchange updates, and connect. Each event kicks of with a special guest, followed by a pulse on the nature tech sector and community including special announcements followed by updates and activities.

Special Guest, Kat Bruce

Our guest this week was Kat Bruce, founder of Nature Metrics and scientist turned entrepreneur who is passionate about the interface between science, business, and policy — the intersection of these sectors is something we’re incredibly excited about. Kat’s company is bringing to market novel molecular tools for biodiversity assessment to accelerate evidence based decision making, improve environmental management, increasing the speed of monitoring efforts and reduce costs.

Sea Change

Kat Joined us from London where she returned from travels to COP28, Davos, and Finland. During the call she shared about an exciting nature tech challenge called SeaChnge which she and Chrissy Durkin of Rainforest Connection came up with. They recruited 4 additional colleagues working in nature and climate to row around Great Britain while collecting data on the state of the oceans and highlighting restoration projects around the coast. The adventure kicks off in June and you can check out more details here via the website and LinkedIn including ways to follow along and support.

NTC Sector Intelligence Sneak Peek

The NTC Sector Intelligence team is presently conducing peer review on their Nature Fintech sector mapping.

This week participants also received a sneak peak of the forthcoming Nature Tech Collective Sector Intelligence effort to map out the Nature Fintech space. The project is an ambitious project and the result of a months long effort which is currently going through a peer and domain expert review cycle to gather feedback, improve the effort, and raise additional awareness.

Reach out here if you’d like to be a reviewer.
